About the artist
Amber Valravn is the otherworldly counterpart of the artist Emma Creighton-Offord.
Amber resides in the magical realm of Feyrish Wood. This world borders our own, with one of it's many gateways in the Highlands of Scotland, its magic sometimes making its way into our own. The Wood is not the small cluster of trees the name suggests, but a vast, sprawling, verdant forest with craggy clifftops, deep lochs, misty moors, and tumbledown ruins. Dramatic waterfalls and rivers run to a shore with turquoise waters and white sands.
The inhabitants of the wood are many and varied, including goblins, fairies, a large variety of dragons, and many more unique creatures great and small. Mischievous tricksters, serene magical beasts and strangely familiar creatures with elements of our own fauna have all been documented by the caretaker of the forest, through her illustrations.

Working creatively through their character, Amber Valravn, Emmie is a Scottish artist whose work is influenced by the natural world and folklore. Their creative works speak of a space between the magical world and our own, like dreams, or the imagination of a child.
Emmie enjoys taking commissions; exploring new takes on their previous work, collaborating with the customer to create new fantastical creatures, or bringing their own characters to life. Emmie's creative pursuits also extend to creating costumes, puppets, masks, props and they can be found trying their hand at most any craft.
Emmie's puppets and costumes have been seen in several festivals, which they have performed in, including both Beltane and Samhuinn Fire Festivals as part of the Beltane Fire Society. Emmie helped design and make a giant Kelpie puppet for Beltane 2019.
They also created the mascot Bruce for Pulse of the Place a Youth Samba Band which her eldest son is part of. Emmie has puppeteered Bruce at a number of events including Edinburgh Carnival and the Torchlight Procession, part of Edinburgh's Hogmanay.
Outside of creative endeavours, Emmie has a deep love of the natural world and history, and enjoys exploring castles and forests with husband David and their three children. They love boardgames, folk metal music, anime, and foreign language romantic dramas, and are a self confessed nerd.
Since 2024, Emmie has been part of Whitby Krampus Run. A group of performers who carry on the tradition of parading through the town, embodying the character from Alpine folklore. Whitby Krampus Run's take on the event weaves in elements of its own local folklore, and takes the more family friendly approach. Each year they raise money for local charities.
